20x20x4 air filters, furnace filters, air conditioner filters and HVAC filters. Replacement AC Furnace filters from Atomic Filters are high quality AC filters for a fraction of the price of low quality fiber glass filters you buy from the grocery store.

This pleated filter is a MERV 13 filter efficiency. MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, indicates when a filter will be least efficient. So, the higher the MERV rating, the more efficient the filter. Most fiberglass spun filters, such as those found in your local grocery store, are usually only a MERV 1 or MERV 2. This can affect the efficiency and air flow of your heating and cooling system, causing it to work harder to produce the same air flow, while costing you more money!
These MERV 13 air filters efficiently reduce pollen, dust, pet dander, and other fibers from air in your home. Eliminating these airborne particles can help alleviate allergies and sinus irritation that can cause watery eyes, itchy throat, coughing, and sneezing. An additional benefit of this HVAC air filter in your home will also extend the life of your heating and cooling system by making it work more efficiently.
These MERV 13 filters contain pleats which creates a greater surface area to catch airborne particles and decrease the airflow drag helping your system to operate more efficiently . The MERV 13 filter media is electrostatically charged and constructed with 100% high performance mechanical synthetic media that also will not retain moisture, which can lead to microbial growth. These HVAC filters should be changed every 1 to 3 months for optimum performance. Atomic offers our filter in 1” and 2” and 4" thicknesses to fit just about any home application.

FAQ's

How long do 20x20x4 filters last? 4-inch thick filters can last from 6 to 12 months depending on environmental conditions. Smoke, pets, construction, and other factors can reduce the useful life of your filters.

Is MERV 11 or 13 better? MERV 13 filters are more efficient at trapping a greater percentage of smaller particles. Here is a comparison between MERV 13 and MERV 11 based on the amounts of particles that are filtered by size.

MERV 11 will capture the following percentages of the size of particles measured in microns (metric unit of measurement is one one-thousandth of a millimeter) each time the air passes through the filter.

0.30-1.0 less than or equal to 20%
1.0-3.0 less than or equal to 65%
3.0-10.0 less than or equal to 85%

MERV 13 will capture the following percentages of the size of particles measured in microns (metric unit of measurement is one one-thousandth of a millimeter) each time the air passes through the filter.

0.30-1.0 less than or equal to 50%
1.0-3.0 less than or equal to 85%
3.0-10.0 less than or equal to 90%

Is MERV 13 too much for a house? Modern HVAC systems are designed to use filters that will protect air quality which means they should support from MERV 8 to MERV 13 filters if the HVAC system was properly sized for the home. To get better air quality by filtration an increase in the MERV will have an increase in the resistance of the filter.

Not all filter brands are equal in the amount of resistance. Some brands have higher resistance than others.

This Atomic MERV 13 filter has a rated velocity of 300(FPM) and low initial resistance of 0.26(in w.g.) which is one of the lowest resistances in the industry for MERV 13. Also notably Lennox makes MERV 16 filters which also have very a low resistance. If you are unsure check with your HVAC company and make sure they have expertise in air quality.
