MERV 13 Performance Data
Performance Data: This MERV 13 filter has an initial resistance of 0.26 in (w.g.) and has a rated velocity (FPM) of 300.
Why Choose MERV 13 Filters?
- Removes 90%+ of particles 3.0-10.0 microns (pollen, pet dander)
- Removes 85%+ of particles 1.0-3.0 microns (dust, mold spores)
- Made in USA with synthetic media (no moisture retention)
- maximum media and pleat configuration for increased air flow
- Recommended by American Lung Association
What MERV should I get for air filter?
According to the EPA, upgrading from a low-efficiency fiberglass filter to a medium-efficiency filter (MERV 5–8) can significantly improve the air quality in a home. Higher-efficiency filters (MERV 9–12) will work even better, and a true high-efficiency filter (MERV 13–16) can remove as much as 95% of the particles that pass through it.
Will MERV 13 damage my HVAC?
It depends on the resistance of the filter which can vary by brand. According to the EPA "Most furnaces and HVAC systems can accommodate a MERV 13 filter without creating equipment problems, provided that the filter is replaced frequently." You should check with your HVAC contractor if you have an older system or are unsure. Better quality filters will have a lower resistance for the same MERV efficiency.
Sizing Note: This filter measures 19.5" x 19.5" x 0.75" (actual size) and fits standard 20x20x1 filter slots. This is industry standard sizing.

Is a MERV 11 or MERV 13 filter too restrictive?
In general, modern HVAC systems that have been properly designed and sized for the home are designed to handle MERV 8 to 13 air filters that will help protect air quality in the home. If you have an older system or it has not been properly sized check with an HVAC contractor that understands air quality. If they dismiss a high MERV filter without asking about performance data on the filter, you may want to check with another HVAC contractor.
20x20x1 Filter Compatibility
This 20x20x1 MERV 13 filter works with:
- Carrier furnaces and AC units
- Lennox HVAC systems
- Trane air handlers
- Goodman equipment
- Most standard residential HVAC systems with 1-inch filter slots
Customer Feedback Note: Some customers mention the filter is slightly smaller than expected. This 19.5" x 19.5" sizing is industry standard for 20x20x1 filters and ensures proper fit without damaging your HVAC system. The slight gap allows for thermal expansion.
20x20x1 MERV 13 air filters, furnace filters, air conditioner filters, and HVAC filters. Replacement AC Furnace filters from Atomic Filters are high-quality AC filters Made in the USA.
